Criollo Peru Block
Criollo Peru Drops
You're looking for cacao for your first or next ceremony and wondering: ceremonial cacao – where to buy? The range is large and not every product is what the name promises. With a few simple criteria, you'll quickly find something that suits you.
What ceremonial cacao is
This usually means pure cacao mass: ground cacao beans, without sugar, without milk powder and without flavourings. It's offered as a block, in drops or as wafers and dissolved in hot water or a drink of your choice. Traditionally, cacao drunk this way has been used in South America for a very long time for shared rituals and special moments.
What you can pay attention to when buying
- Ingredients list: It should contain only cacao, nothing else.
- Origin: Reputable suppliers name the country and variety. We stock cacao from Ecuador and Peru.
- Variety and flavour: Some cacaos taste mild and earthy, others fruity or complex. An honest description helps you choose.
- Form: Block, drops or wafers differ mainly in how you measure them and how quickly they melt.
- Transparency: Who's behind the shop and how can you reach them? You'll find out about us under The person behind it.
Block, drops or wafers: which form suits you?
All our cacaos cost 60,00 € per kilogramme. The difference lies in variety and form:
- Sierra Ecuador Block: soft, mild and very fine, with pleasant bitterness. Gently earthy, rounded and balanced. A good choice for starting out.
- Criollo Peru Block: Criollo is considered the noblest and rarest cacao variety in the world. The flavour is soft, elegant and complex.
- Criollo Peru Drops: the same fine Criollo, but in practical drops. They're easy to measure and melt quickly.
- Naranjal Ecuador Wafers: lively and fruit-forward, with zesty citrus freshness.
You'll find all four gathered in the category Ceremonial cacao.
What you need besides the cacao
To start with, a pot, a knife for chopping and a cup will do. If you'd like to make the preparation a bit nicer, you'll find in the Ceremony accessories for example the traditional Molinillo, a wooden cacao frother. If you'd like to enhance your cacao with a particular quality such as harmony, grounding, strength, presence or joy, you can have a look at the Cacao blends. These are plant-based powders in 50-g packages that you can stir in as you like.

Frequently asked questions
Which ceremonial cacao is suitable for beginners?
A mild cacao like the Sierra Ecuador Block is a good start. For those with more experience, we recommend Criollo. Which taste you prefer best is ultimately a matter of habit and preference.
Which form is easiest to measure?
Drops and wafers are easier to measure than a block, which you have to chop first. On the other hand, many cacao lovers appreciate being able to portion the block themselves.
Do you also deliver to Germany?
Yes, we ship to Austria and Germany.
